JAMDANI

Jamdani is one of Bengal’s most treasured handloom traditions, celebrated for its feather-light texture, fine muslin heritage, and poetic woven motifs. Each motif is created directly on the loom using an intricate discontinuous weft technique, giving the fabric its signature floating effect.

Once patronised by royalty and admired for its quiet luxury, Jamdani remains a true labour of love, slow, delicate, and deeply rooted in Bengal’s textile history. Its cultural significance has also been recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, making every Jamdani not just a saree, but a piece of living craft.
